Kristi Watson taught in the Clark County School District for thirteen years. She is Nationally Board Certified in Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood Art. Kristi received her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from UNLV in 1996. In 1992 she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in K-12 Art Education from SUNY College at Buffalo, and in 1990 she earned an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Communications from Villa Maria College of Buffalo.

Kristi moved to Las Vegas in 1993 and has been an integral part of our arts community. She has been displaying her work at the COTW gallery for the past two years. Kristi was teaching classes at our gallery through The College of Southern Nevada which has since cut down on their programming. Kristi is the past President of The Art Educators of Nevada and is currently serving as their Secretary, Webmaster, and Newsletter Editor.

In 2003-04 Kristi took some time off from full-time teaching to stay at home with her daughter. During that period she served as a docent for the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum at The Venetian Hotel and Casino, conducting outside tours for the schools that came to visit the gallery. Kristi began teaching the Little Artists Classes through the City of Henderson Parks & Recreation Department at that time. She returned to teach for the Clark County School District for three more years. After giving birth to her second child she decided to resign to be a “Stay at Home Mom” for a few years. While her kids keep her busy, she still has great passion for teaching and creating art of her own.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:

I am an artist with ADAMD, Attention Deficit Artistic Medium Disorder; meaning that I can not focus my attention to one medium alone. I started using watercolors and acrylics after the birth of my first child. I couldn’t impose the wonderful smell of oil paints, mixing medium, and turpentine wafting through my little apartment on that new little bundle of joy, no matter how much I loved it!

I am also a metal clay artist and certified as a Level I Art Clay Silver Instructor. I will have beautiful handmade 99.9% silver jewelry with me on First Friday and on our Opening Night on Dec. 11th. These items are unique to my line of Kaylectible jewerly and would make wonderful holiday gifts for your friends and family. If you wish to purchase my jewelry on any other day of this month other than that, please visit my website at: http://www.zibbet.com/kaylectible .
