02.27.10 :: More information on Show Opportunities for COTW Members ::
There are new opportunities to show off your work. Two different events are scheduled for the weekends of April 9, 10 and 11 (indoors), and April 24 and 25 (outdoors). Both are from approximately 10 to 5 p.m. Not all the details have been worked out so no names are being given out at this time, but both events are well attended. Are you interested in participating? If you participate, you will be expected to be at the event. A schedule will be worked out so you will have a certain time period to be at our booth, take in the money, talk to the people, etc. And, of course, set up and take down volunteers are needed. If enough people participate, you won’t be there all day. There will be hanging areas and tables at both events. There’s no charge for participating, but your regular commission to City of the World will apply.
Roz wants to be able to commit to these events, so please reply to Roz Knight by calling her at 523-5306 or sending me an e-mail at lsnyder281@msn.com as soon as possible.
The month of May promises to be a fun month! Art Educators of Southern Nevada is sponsoring “Recycled Runway” on First Friday, May 7th. We have use of the stage area on Casino Center and Colorado from 6 to 7 p.m. to model any outfit you make with recycled materials. An MC has been lined up; a judge has been lined up. Get busy and make up your outfit for this creative and fun event! Give Susan Moraledo a call at 204-2815 or e-mail her at boxedspiral@hotmail.com to let her know you are interested. She’s coordinating and can answer any questions you may have.
We have a link to Friends of First Friday. Take a look at what you can get by becoming a “friend”. There are offers at other galleries, dining, etc., by joining. You’ll be given a card that is good for a year for these various offers. City of the World artists – please select one of your pieces currently at the gallery and mark it as one of the items available for a 10% discount. This is just another way we are trying to get people into the Arts District and our gallery.
Lets get out and participate folks! We need to let Las Vegas know who and where we are.
